Have you ever thought about the impact your daily food choices have on the planet?
The Food for Thought app lets you manipulate a meal to see how different foods compare.
By dragging food on the plate you can investigate how much water and carbon goes into the production, as well as the calories and cost per serving for each food. Design different meals and discuss your impact. What kind of meal would you choose?
This app is sure to stimulate conversation around your classroom or dinner table tonight!
The Food for Thought app was created by an interdisciplinary research team, CoLearnLab, in the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign's College of Education. The app was originally created as a research project, for 55" multi touch tables. After research and interest from the public, the large multi touch design was formatted into an iPad app. Keeping the same functionality as the large scaled version, the app allows students to learn about their environmentally footprint in terms of the food they eat
