Sheep & Goats: Illinois Livestock Trail
Resource Type:Online Resource
Website and/or Calendar Links
Welcome to SheepNet, the web site for the Department of Animal Sciences Sheep Extension Program. We hope that this web site will be a useful tool for all sheep producers, agri-business personnel, educators and consumers. Public and private databases are listed and can be added to provide a "one stop" information resource.
What is SheepNet?
The web site is broken into seven categories. Lets look at each one.
This is a collection of articles that are current in nature. They will vary a great deal and will be continually updated. To read, just point at your selection and click the mouse.
In this area we will place research articles that we feel are at the forefront of the sheep industry. These will be papers from around the world.
This is intended to be a calendar for all sheep related events in the State of Illinois, not just extension events. To learn more about a specific program or event, just point and click. Detailed information about the event will appear on the screen. A contact person will be listed by address, telephone number and e-mail address, if possible. You can point and click on the name of the contact if it is given in blue. This will allow you to draft an e-mail message and send it to that person.
If you have a sheep related event that you would like to have listed, please call or write Richard Cobb at 217-333-7351, email@example.com or
Ask an Expert
We have a number of people on our staff with an interest in sheep. They are listed in this section. If you have a question you would like answered, click on the "Ask an Expert" section and click again on the options that appear. Then write your question. We will then respond to the question and it will be posted on the web site. Both the question and the answer will be posted. This will allow other people with similar questions to review the questions and learn from them.
These are links to other web sites that we feel have something to offer sheep producers. We have a mix of types from university pages to some not commonly seen on sheep web sites. You can check the lamb market by clicking on the Equity link. This is set to go directly to the latest prices paid. You will have to scroll down the page to the sheep section. If you know of a web site that you feel is exciting or educational that could benefit your fellow sheep producers, then please notify us.
Check on this to read about the workings of the web site.
The user can type in key words which are searched in the databases described above.
We hope that our web site is interesting and educational to you. We will be continually upgrading and adding to the page. Please make it a point to visit our page regularly. If you have suggestions about how we can improve, please let us know.
