The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is designed to assist limited-resource audiences in gaining knowledge and skills needed to eat a nutritious diet and to live a healthy lifestyle. Programs are research based, hands on, and taught by trained peer educators.
EFNEP is located in six counties in Illinois - Cook, Peoria, Champaign, Vermilion, Madison, and St. Clair. In 2015, we provided educational programs for over 5,000 adults and over 4,000 youth, allowing us to reach greater than 20,000 family members in Illinois.
EFNEP is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
