Evaluation of the Chicago Public School’s Tier I and II Interventions: Summary and Recommendations

In the 2008-2009 school year, the Chicago Public Schools Office of Specialized Services offered two tiers of school-based services to address students social-emotional needs. Tier I services provided basic social-emotional skill-building activities for all students. Tier II services were offered to students that might be in need of additional social-emotional supports. Tier II activities were comprised of Anger Coping groups and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) groups provided to selected students.
