In the spring of 2009, a group of community members from the Muslim community got together to address a pressing need: inadequate healthcare coverage for the uninsured and under-insured members of the Champaign-Urbana community.
Inspired by this mission and the desire to embody the spirit of community activism in Islam, Avicenna Community Health Center (ACHC) was born. It is now incorporated with the State of Illinois as a not‐for‐profit organization.
On January 23rd, 2010, Avicenna Community Health Center launched a new phase of its mission by offering weekend services.
